Flexible Units

Our cutting optimization software allows you to specify units for all input values, supporting millimeters, inches, and feet. Seamlessly convert between units and customize output formats to ensure precision and efficiency in your cutting plans.

Flexible Units for Input and Output

In our one-dimensional cutting optimization software, you have the flexibility to specify the units for all input values. Whether you are defining cut pieces or raw materials, you can choose the units that best suit your needs. We support the following units:

  • Millimeters (mm)
  • Inches (inch)
  • Feet (ft)

Seamless Conversion: You can also specify different units for the output values. If the input and output units differ, our software automatically converts all input values to the chosen output units, ensuring consistency and accuracy in your cutting plans.

Input Units

Choose from millimeters, inches, or feet for all your input values. You can enter dimensions in the following formats depending on your unit selection in the material configuration:

  • Inch or Feet:

    • Decimal Values: Enter as a plain number, interpreted based on the selected unit (e.g., 5.75).
    • Decimal Inches: Include an inch symbol, explicitly indicating inches (e.g., 3.2663").
    • Decimal Feet: Include a foot symbol, explicitly indicating feet (e.g., 4.35').
    • Feet and Inches with Fractions: Use both symbols to indicate feet and fractional inches (e.g., 3'4 2/16").
  • Millimeters:

    • Decimal or Integer Values: Enter as a plain number, both decimal (e.g., 145.75) and integer values (e.g., 145) are accepted.

Output Units

Millimeters, inches, or feet are available, with multiple supported output formats to match your specific requirements:

  • Millimeters (mm): Can be integers or decimal numbers, with user-defined precision up to 4 decimal places. The millimeter sign (mm) is never printed in the optimization results or in exported PDFs, Excel files, etc.
  • Inches (inch): Output format can be a whole number with fraction or a decimal number. In both cases, the inch symbol (") is added at the end. Precision can be up to 1/64 or 4 decimal places.
  • Feet (ft): Output format can be feet-inch-fraction or decimal. In case of decimal, a feet symbol (') is added at the end. Precision can be up to 1/64 or 4 decimal places.
